Homeless Helpers

During the weekend, I decided to go to a homeless shelter as my third attempt to pay it forward. My mom and I brought some of our leftovers from thanksgiving, like our turkey, and some buffalo. We also made some sloppy joes because my mom said it was good to serve meat. I wasn't exactly sure why but I was happy that all of the people there liked it. After dinner, we went outside to play alittle. Some kids there were playing tag, and I decided to join. They all were really fast! I, then played catch with this one kid who had a pretty strong arm. It was a lot of fun, and I couldn't wait to go back.

Attempt 2: Toys for Tots

Toys for tots, if you don't know, is a Marine sponsored foundation. It is basically a drive where you can donate toys, and money to children in need. You can even donate a car if you like! Well i obviously didn't donate a car, but went down to the area, and gave away a lot of my old toys (I would of gave away my slide but I was having too much fun with it after I cleaned it). I felt very good after giving away the toys, because soon it would be given to someone who needed it. Hopefully, I've helped in someway by giving those toys away.

Attempt 1: Canyon Clean-up

My dad owns a part of the canyon we live on and let me tell you, it's pretty disgusting. There is tons of trash everywhere, and even some clothes (but we also have hobos living there so that's where all the clothes come from)! I have decided to stand up and clean up this dump! Lots of critters live there so I'm pretty sure they'd appreciate it.
On the first day, I just started to pick up all of the big stuff. Clothes, chip bags, anything that I was able to see easily was picked up, and thrown away. Although I only worked for about 30 minutes, I was glad at the amount of trash was in my black bag. The canyon had already seemed to be a lot cleaner, too.
The next day I really got dirty. I picked up all of the small stuff, and endured a lot of back-breaking manual labor. We actually had a slide that we used to use when we were little, but now it was invested with spiders, and other creepy crawlies. I sprayed it with water, and brought it up to our backyard.
On the last day, I didn't do much but just tidy up. I just found remnants of trash and threw it away. After I was done the whole place looked a whole lot better than how it started out, geee I wish I had a camera.
